Sports-car grip for an SUV is the idea behind the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV, a high-performance tire. An asymmetric tread puts the outer part to work on dry roads and the inner part on wet roads, and a groove design stiffens the tread for grip under lateral load.
A compound mix with innovative elastomers and fine silica supports grip and braking on wet pavement, while rigid blocks, a high-density double casing and a hybrid aramid-nylon belt are there for durability and sidewall protection.
The 225/65R17 size is rated 106V for load and speed with extra load (XL) construction. It offers 9.5/32-inch tread depth, a 50 psi maximum inflation pressure, a UTQG rating of 220AA and an overall diameter of about 28.5 inches. This size carries a 20,000-mile treadwear warranty.
